Phase two of Arvato partnership to go live in DecemberSlough Borough Council is implementing Phase 2 of its public-private partnership with arvato UK & Ireland – including the delivery of IT and customer services – to go live from 2 December 2013.
Slough Borough Council entered into a public-private partnership with arvato in March 2012. This agreement included a range of transactional and corporate services that were to be delivered by arvato with phased start dates. It is anticipated that Phase 2 will go live from 2nd December 2013.
As part of Phase 2, arvato will take over the existing ICT service infrastructure including the delivery of the ICT Technical Strategy and managed ICT support for all corporate users. They will also procure, replace and / or refresh components as this becomes necessary.
It was revealed in September that the cost of this transactional services contract with Arvato, was miscalculated, leading to a £2.7m gap within the existing budget requirement for the contract.
Parents to get parking fines by postNinety-one parents are set to get parking tickets through the post after being caught parking illegally on school keep clear zig-zags by the council’s new camera enforcement units.
In the first week of operation, the new parking enforcement vehicles, equipped with an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) camera, snapped 91 vehicles parked in contravention outside just 30 out of the 48 schools in the borough.
The parents will now be receiving their parking tickets through the post – with 21 days to pay the reduced charge of £35 before the fine goes up to £70.
The two parking enforcement cars hit the streets on 21 October to patrol areas where it would be difficult, impractical or sensitive to have foot patrols.
The council will be rolling out further restrictions for the camera units to patrol within the next few weeks including parking in bus stops, double yellow lines with loading bans and taxi ranks.
Eric Pickles has blasted councils for the new parking enforcement. Speaking to ITV’s Daybreak Pickles said: ‘We are worried that what is happening in local authorities is they are using parking fines as a kind of cash cow from motorists. The legislation is very clear, you cannot do so.
